What Does Feminism Really Mean?

Empower
Those Plant Ladies

Feminism: it’s one of those words that probably evokes a strong reaction within you. March is home to International Women’s Day on March 8th with the mission to promote women empowering women. With all this buzz about female strength, this seems like the perfect time to dive into the topic of feminism.

If you’re like us, you want to support the movement female empowerment and equal rights, but the media tends to highlight the far extreme views of feminism and that often includes hatred and belittlement of the opposite sex. We’re not into that.

Our take on feminism on the blog for Those Plant Ladies.

Being a female in a male-dominated industry has brought its plethora of judgements and stereotypes. Being a woman in the green industry means we have been thought of as less important, just a girl who can’t do the same work, weak, unimportant, and a whole list of other things. We’ve always had to work 25 times harder than the average man to prove our worth and skillset. We’ve been overlooked for opportunities because of our gender and size.

So what is feminism?

We believe in equality for both genders without preferential treatment. We believe that no matter what gender, race, or size you are — you have an equal opportunity to chase after what you’re passionate about. We believe in letting your work ethic and results speak for themselves. We believe that women are fearfully and wonderfully made; created to tackle whatever interests God has placed in their heart.

That’s our definition of feminism.

We’re all given different passions and gifts that we are called to use in their own unique way. All we want is to be given the space to fulfill our callings and take pride in our labors!

Women are:
powerful
creative
strong
beautiful
intelligent
dynamic
…and we’re here to support you in your journey of chasing your own passions.
