Workwear You Can Feel Confident In

Inspire
Fawn

The biggest hurdle I’ve come across during my ten years spent in the green industry is that the fashion is lacking. Why is that? Gray and khaki don’t go together, Y’all! This is what I screamed in the mirror everyday for 10 years as I dressed in my required work attire. I like to work and get my hands dirty, but gosh can I still look like a woman?

I remember getting out of college, going to my first interview — the one I would eventually land and work my way up the ladder for more than a decade — and my boss asking me if I had any questions. The only question I had at that moment was, “So… what do we wear around here?” Maybe that sounds a little superficial and immature, but I remember telling Heather that if I had to wear a button-down with my name on the shirt pocket, it was a definite no.  You can read more about my journey through the world of turfgrass here.

I like to feel good in my clothes. I’m sure you’re the same way! I knew if I had to dress in clothing that didn’t make me feel good, it wouldn’t fill my soul. Luckily, my boss said that as long as I wore the school’s colors, that I could buy my own clothes and they would reimburse me. And there began the endless search for comfortable and stylish workwear… at times that feels like an impossible search but I haven’t stopped looking! Today I’m sharing some of my recent favorites. I wear them for TPL installations, when I’m working in my own yard, and sometimes when I’m hanging out around the house!
