One of our favorite things to do as Those Plant Ladies is getting together with our all-female installation teams. These projects provide us with amazing opportunities for hands-on learning where our TPL Crew can learn skills and techniques to work in their own yards! (Want to be part of our Crew? Go here.) We had a blast at this installation in Hickory, NC.
For part one of this installation, we brought together a team of 10 women. Our team included stay-at-home moms who wanted a break from the kids, teachers who have been working from home and were looking for a break from their new normal, and local business owners who wanted to come and support our business! These teams are made up of women with a variety skills and experience in landscaping but everyone comes eager to work hard, play hard, and learn to be an even better plant lady.

The look was created by Fawn Renae Designs and the client selected a calming, fresh green and white vibe. The homeowners chose limelight hydrangea trees, boxwoods, hostas and smaller hydrangea trees.
We knew there would be some real challenges during this project, including removing a mature holly tree with HUGE roots and clearing ivy from the backyard fence. Our Plant Ladies didn’t hesitate to jump in with giant tools, even if we had to move to plan B at times. Nothing can stop our team when we take a minute, assess the situation, and problem-solve!
One of the best parts of the day was lunch, when we could sit down with some cool water and a protein-packed meal and learn more about our new friends. At every lunch break, we review what we have learned so far, the challenges we have overcome during the installation, and connect on a personal level. We love hearing how Those Plant Ladies has impacted each woman, giving her more confidence to tackle her own garden, yard, and landscape needs. Every person is coming with her own set of skills and experiences and are using them to motivate and encourage the woman next to her. It is so rewarding to be a part of!
We’ll be back for phase two where we tackle the backyard hardscape and landscape. If you would like to join a future installation team, fill out this quick form and look for an email from us! We’re excited to show you the final completed project! Stay tuned!
