We love equipment. Especially big equipment. But this tool… this is a game–changer, must-have, won’t-do-the-job-without-it kinda tool.
You’ll find the BedEdger by Brown Products Inc. at every single installation that we do. Every installation we have done so far has involved reshaping and expanding landscape beds somewhere (and sometimes everywhere!) in the project. This piece of equipment is key to creating the crisp, clean edges that will separate the lawn from the new landscape beds.
The BedEdger creates a trench up to nine inches deep and wide and is extremely simple to use. Just simply crank the engine, engage the blade, and walk backwards along the new bed lines. Without the BedEdger, we would dig these edges with shovel or other hand tools that would take hours longer.
For this particular project, we were able to lay these sizeable edging bricks directly into the trench dug by the BedEdger without any additional shoveling! We just laid the stones in the trench, ensured their alignment, and filled in the trench around them. It was soo easy and saved our team so much time and energy which is critical for completing these big installations. We use this tool whether we’re laying edging in the trench or just laying mulch right up to the turfgrass.
Of course, we can’t leave out how female-friendly this tool is and we are here for it! You will probably need another hand or two to help load and unload this piece of equipment if you don’t have a trailer that it can roll into but our team of women have no trouble getting the BedEdger in and out of a truck bed. On relatively flat ground, this machine can be used by one woman without any trouble. When pulling the machine backwards up a hill, we usually have two women pulling to ensure we keep our lines steady and even while keeping everyone as safe as possible. Safety is incredibly important to us and we are able to maneuver this tool with ease and never feel like it’s manhandling our team members!

We are still renting this BedEdger, for now, but it is very high on our wishlist! It would seriously be a dream come true to own this piece of equipment that is so critical to every job we do. But that’s what we are all about — chasing dreams and breaking the mold!
